Who we are

A promise to a generation that must not be lost.

SGF is a non-governmental, non-partisan organization founded in Shire Endaselassie. Our vision and mission are the true foundation of our work, driving our initiatives and guiding every decision we make to empower the youth.

Our founding vision statement

Our Mission

Holistic Youth Empowerment

To equip young people with essential leadership, psychological, and vocational skills; protect them from harmful practices; and foster their active civic engagement to build resilient and self-reliant citizens.

Our work

Four pillars, one continuous path out of crisis.

Recovery is not a single service. Our programmes move a young person from healing, to learning, to earning, to leading — each pillar handing over to the next.

01

Psychological Recovery & Mental Health

Healing the invisible wounds left by crisis, so young people can think clearly about tomorrow.

  • Preventive Awareness

Community outreach that safeguards youth from addiction, harmful habits, and mental health crises.

  • Psychosocial Support

Professional counseling and trauma recovery services for youth affected by social and political crises.

02

Education & Capacity Building

Returning young people to learning, and preparing them to lead with judgement and confidence.

  • Leadership Development

Structured training in conflict resolution, ethical leadership, and self-confidence building.

  • Educational Reintegration

Supporting dropouts and vulnerable students with learning tools, assistance, and mentorship to return to school.

03

Economic Empowerment & Job Innovation

Turning skills into livelihoods through vocational pathways and modern, local enterprise.

  • Vocational Skill Linkages (TVET)

Partnering with Technical and Vocational Education and Training institutes to equip unemployed youth with market-ready skills.

  • Business Incubation & Innovation

Advisory services, micro-enterprise coaching, and support for innovative local ventures.

04

Civic Engagement & Social Responsibility

Building the spaces, habits, and evidence that let youth shape their own communities.

  • Youth Safe Spaces

Secure community centers for constructive dialogue, peer sharing, sports, and cultural events.

  • Community Volunteerism

Mobilizing youth for environmental sanitation, elderly assistance, and grassroots peacebuilding.

  • Evidence-Based Advocacy

Research that advocates for youth-friendly policies, protective legislation, and fair budgetary allocation.

Core values

How we behave when nobody is watching.

Six commitments define the conduct of every SGF volunteer, staff member, and partner.

Heartfelt Dedication

Serving youth unconditionally with a voluntary, selfless spirit to save lives and improve futures without expecting personal gain.

Holistic Inclusivity

Delivering services equally to all youth, regardless of ethnicity, religious belief, gender, or social background.

Independence & Neutrality

Operating strictly for generational safety, completely free from political, partisan, or external biased influences.

Dignity & Hope

Upholding human dignity while instilling firm belief in a brighter tomorrow for every young person.

Integrity & Accountability

Serving communities and partners with absolute transparency, honesty, and verified accountability.

Collective Growth

Learning and growing collaboratively alongside youth, community members, and international partners.

Guiding principles

The method behind the mission.

Four operating principles keep our interventions coordinated, evidence-based, and sustainable long after a programme ends.

  1. 01

    Holistic Support & Rehabilitation

Coordinated social, economic, and psychological assistance to heal trauma and restore lives.

  2. 02

    Amplifying Generational Voice

Courageously advocating for youth rights, confronting injustice, and promoting community equity.

  3. 03

    Sustainable Capacity Building

Moving beyond temporary relief by building enduring local skills, self-reliance, and problem-solving capability.

  4. 04

    Knowledge-Driven Action

Grounding every programme, intervention, and advocacy effort in continuous research and impact evaluation.
